Discover apple’s 5th generation, the 4k HDR era of TV
Since its 1st generation launch in 2007, Apple TV has been changing the way we view content on our TVs. With the latest 4k version announced this last month apple don’t seem to be slowing down when it comes to influencing our viewing habits.
The 5th generation TV allows you watch films and shows in amazing 4K HDR quality. From a multitude of different sources, including Netflix, NOW TV and many terrestrial On Demand channels. The likes of BBC and ITV are now beginning to film more and more programming in 4K HDR quality. With apple being such a dominant force in the market, they are setting the new standard.
The new 4K box gives you “a crisper picture using four times more pixels than standard HD. High Dynamic Range (HDR) delivers brighter, more realistic colours and greater detail. From the hottest new film to your favourite TV programme, everything is more lifelike than ever.” The device also supports Dolby Vision and a faster Apple A10X Fusion Processor.
You ask – Siri delivers
With this new instalment from apple there is no more typing to find exactly what you’re looking for! Just ask Siri for a show, film, genre, actor, or your favourite song and Siri will find it for you. Siri also shines when you’re not sure what you want. Just say something like “Show me movies in 4K,” and Siri delivers.
The interface has not changed with this upgrade, which is beneficial because there won’t be a new layout for consumers to learn.
Apple have also said they will not charge more for 4k content available to download through iTunes.
The new apple tv box may have too many capabilities for your TV to handle. Because of this the 4th gen will still be available to purchase from the app store.
Cost: 32GB = £179
64GB = £199
Existing 4th gen box continues to be priced at £149
