FAQ

If you’re new to the concept of home automation systems then, naturally, there will be some important questions you’d like to ask us. To help answer some of these, here are a selection of frequently asked questions that customers of The Majik House have asked.

If there is anything else you’d like to ask which isn’t covered here, then simply give us a call on 015242 73578 or email .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)

How long will installation take?

It may be something of a cliche, but it is a fact that each and every one of our installations is unique: the equipment, the specifications, the type and condition of the property. The whole project is tailored to each client’s requirements so, by definition, it is a bespoke service. Therefore, this means there is no fixed installation time allocated. It goes without saying that we’ll provide and estimate prior to commencing any works and we’ll schedule the installation so that it fits around you, with as little disruption as possible.

What are your installation costs?

As mentioned previously, every installation is a bespoke project and we base our quotations for work on surveying your property, specifying the equipment and any additional elements which may arise. We have been undertaking both complex and more straightforward home automation projects for nearly 20 years, so you can be assured that we have a pretty good idea of what each project entails and can quote very accurately.

Who will be installing the systems I choose?

The team we have at The Majik House are able to cover all of the technical aspects to ensure that your new investment is up and running from day one. We pride ourselves on delivering exceptionally high standards and this is reflected in the calibre of the people we employ.

We make a commitment to invest in our people: all of our engineers attend regular training courses and achieve accreditation, both with manufacturers as well as industry governing bodies to ensure we are trained and qualified to very high levels and completely conversant with the latest technology.

The Majik House is proud to have engineers who have achieved CEDIA ( Custom Electronic Design and Installation Association ) qualifications.

For any elements of a commission which we can’t undertake ( structural or masonry works, for example ) then we sub-contract to one of our trusted partners. We are also happy to work alongside any company you may wish to appoint and can provide a comprehensive project management service to ensure every step of the installation goes according to plan.

Which brands do you supply?

There are certain brands of audio, visual and lighting systems which we hold in very high regard and are always happy to recommend to our clients. These include Sonos, Loewe, Lutron, Linn, Rako and NEOD - New Era of Device. That said, if you have an affinity with a particular brand or manufacturer then we are happy to take this into consideration and will work to accommodate your requests.

I’m not very technical - how easy are your systems to use ?

Before we even start planning your home automation system, we find out a bit more about you and what you’re comfortable with in terms of technology available. Commonly our systems have a remote control (or even and iPod or iPad) that will be customised to suit you.

All of the elements required ‘behind the scenes’ will work very simply, very reliably and exactly as will be demonstrated to you on completion. We’ll also include complete instructions and a comprehensive demonstration so that your control starts from the moment we finish.

What about your after care and on-going service?

At The Majik House, we are always very proud of the work we undertake and want you to be happy with your investment for years to come. we offer a peace of mind guarantee on all our workmanship and installation, along with comprehensive manufacturer guarantees on all equipment.

We recommend that, just like a car, the systems be regularly serviced to keep everything performing at its best and we will also recommend any upgrades as technology develops and improves to enable you to make informed decisions on future additions.

Do you offer finance packages?

We appreciate that home automation and entertainment systems can be a significant investment in your property and are able to assist with finance solutions to make your purchase more affordable. Please do ask on of our team at The Majik House and we’ll be more than happy to discuss the options available to you.

You mention CEDIA - what is this ?

“CEDIA is the Custom Electronic Design and Installation Association, an organisation of experienced companies involved in the design and installation of electronic systems for the home. Custom design and installation, the process by which home electronics are integrated itno one coherent system, is the cutting edge of a rapidly growing filed and is only recently becoming more widely known outside the consumer electronics industry.

Amongst consumers there is a growing awareness of CEDIA, a not-for-profit trade association, which was founded in the USA in 1989 and which now has administration offices in the Uk and Australia.”
