3D An Update for 2011

It does not seem long ago that we reported on the 3D TV and whether or not those rather annoying glasses and all the hype was actually worth it or not !

Since then, and it really is only a few short cold months, we have seen lots of more positives in the 3D world.

There are now a number of films worth watching in top quality 10803D with content that appeals to more than just the kids – Avatar being the most fully immersive experience of a film that I have seen to date – even available from Sky this is very impressive.

We watched initially on a Panasonic 65” plasma which did do a pretty good job of things – not nearly as good as the Samsung’s of this world though.

Putting the same material through a dedicated 3D projector – namely the JVC and this then with a BIG screen does become an event to remember – especially when you can watch in the comfort of your own home.

Now then – everybody is going on about Gaming in 3D – this does make for a much more positive argument for donning those glasses, besides you will probably be putting on the full headphones and mic headset to communicate with your fellow troops as you go once again into battle on the latest Call of Duty – Black Ops !

Anyone I speak with under the age of 25 seems to be totally addicted to this latest venture – some recording sessions of more than 10 hours at a time !

Good or bad news? – interpret it as you will but 3D and gaming are a great big part of some peoples lives now and the 3D concept certainly does have a place and as more material becomes available the appeal will definitely spread.
