3D Plasma Screen at The Majik House 3D or Not 3D – First Reports from Majik 1 Viewpoint !
It is now some weeks since the Samsung 55” LED 3D TV was installed and the world cup has been and gone.
During this time I have watched the first half of one of the England games, Coronation Street HD, and of course the one disc that is in true 3D that comes free with the 3D Blu Ray player – this is the only true 3D disc available at the time of this report ! – Monsters v Aliens.
Sat with my £ 50.00 active shutter glasses on top of my normal glasses, all remotes on the coffee table as the smart remote will need reconfiguring for this new set up – here is a take on the experience
The football – simulated 3D all cleverly done by the Samsung – yes there is a difference from standard HD to 3D in that the players move around on a pitch that definitely has signage behind it and there is a crowd clearly sat behind that.
All of this seems to have a depth within the TV, ie. from the front face of the TV backwards. Fast moving action is another thing though ! When there is a goal kick and quick ball movement (usually from the opposing team), then the crowd, the signage and all the background just goes to a complete blurr – no detail and just like the early plasma’s used to do – the amount of changing information, it just can’t put it back together fast enough.
Switch back to HD from our friend’s at Sky and bingo – great pic with smooth transitions, all good !
Coronation Street! Deidre looks considerably old in HD and in 3D simulated it takes it to an increased dimension. Same overall impressions as the football, depth within the TV, nothing moves that fast on the street anyway so processing seems to cope better !
Monsters v Aliens – true 3D on a 3D Blue Ray disc and new 3D Player – this is the ultimate set up, available NOW !
Impressions – not much different than the pseudo version from the telly!
So, so, disappointed – glasses off, normal HD back on and that’s the way it is staying for now !
Much more work to be done here yet, more feedback will follow once the amp, cables, smart remote etc etc have all been changed and reconfigured – don’t yet know about those glasses though !
